Four Different categories of outreach event with sqm-L
Yearly Outreach Plan for SQM Recipients:
1. Public Stargazing Events: Organize public stargazing events
in your community to raise awareness about the importance
of dark sky protection and the impacts of light pollution.
These events could include a short presentation on light
pollution followed by a stargazing session using the SQM to
showcase the effects of light pollution on the night sky.
2. Social Media Campaigns: Utilize social media platforms to
raise awareness about light pollution and the importance of
dark sky protection. SQM recipients can share their data,
images of the night sky, and tips for reducing light pollution
in their communities.
3. School Outreach Programs: Partner with local schools to
organize educational programs on dark sky protection and
light pollution. These programs could include presentations,
hands-on activities, and stargazing sessions using the SQMs.
4. Light Pollution Monitoring Workshops: Organize workshops
to train volunteers and community members on how to use
the SQMs and conduct light pollution monitoring. These
workshops can be a great way to engage the community
and empower them to take action in protecting their night
sky.
SQM recipients are encouraged to document and share their
outreach activities with other recipients to foster collaboration
and inspire new ideas for outreach. By conducting these
outreach activities, we hope to raise awareness about light
pollution and dark sky protection, inspire action at the
community level, and create a network of dark sky advocates
across Pakistan.
